• The person behind the program

One educator. Every child. Every day.

This program was built on a deliberate choice: small group, one consistent adult, and a home where every corner has a purpose.

Built from the ground up, not assembled

My name is Melissa Holder and I’m the proud owner and caregiver at Bean & Boo’s. With 26 years of experience in early education, including teaching kindergarten and have supervised larger centres and staff. I bring a wealth of knowledge, compassion and dedication to every child in my care.

My experience has given me a strong understanding of child development and the importance of creating a learning environment that is safe, engaging, and responsive to each child’s needs. Along with with many experts, I believe that children learn best through play, exploration, meaningful relationships, and hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence and independence. I value strong partnerships with families and believe open communication is essential in supporting each child’s growth and well-being. My goal is to provide parents with a piece of mind, knowing their children are in a caring, experienced, and supportive environment.

The mess is the point.

Toddlers learn to think by building towers that fall, by handling real ingredients, by making real decisions in a real space. Compliance is not the goal.

Each program connects hands-on play to literacy, numeracy, and Canada Food Guide meals — documented routines with clear developmental purpose.
